10.06.08 JONATHAN RICHMAN SPECIAL GUEST: HILTON VALENTINE Wednesday, October 15th - 8:00 - $20 ALTERNATIVE POP HERO Webmaster's Note: In researching Jonathan's work for this week's Journal posting and front page, I found with increasing fascination just why he is considered the "godfather of punk". This 1970 audio YouTube clip of Jonathan's ( and his band Modern Lovers) song "Roadrunner" could very well be the fundamental source of all subsequent "3 chord punk". If you, like me, aren't as familiar with Jonathan Richman's work, I strongly suggest visiting YouTube for some of the many iterations of his work, including covers by The Sex Pistols, and David Bowie.
